MRP alone is not enough! USP is also important

For packaged goods sold in quantities of 25 kg / 25 liters or more, from 2023 onwards, displaying both MRP and USP is mandatory.

What is USP?

  • The price per 1g / 1ml / 1kg / 1 liter must be displayed.

Why is USP important?

  • USP helps consumers compare the prices of different brands and package sizes more effectively, ensuring they get the best value for money.
  • (Especially for imported products)

✔Genetically Modified (GM) Products

  • If the product is genetically modified, it should be mentioned on the label.

✔Red & Green Dot Symbols

  • Red Dot: Non-Vegetarian Origin
  • Green Dot: Vegetarian Origin

✔e-Commerce Marketplaces (Amazon, Flipkart, etc.)

  • All mandatory labeling information must also be displayed on e-commerce websites.
